*for information or questions email D2VA@spart2.org

Spartanburg School District Two is proud to provide an option that will allow students to stay at home and receive all classes virtually off-campus with the support of a certified teacher.

Our Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy will provide students with a rigorous curriculum using Edmentum and/or Apex courseware with support from a certified teacher using Zoom, Google Classroom, and/or Canvas with additional support through different programs such as iReady. A device (iPad or Chromebook), along with technical support, will be provided.

The Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy courses are completely web-based and designed to allow students to work on their own schedules. Courses include pre-tests, tutorials, practice activities, mastery tests, and post-tests to ensure that students master each concept before moving on. Students in our Virtual Academy will be supported by a certified teacher who will be in regular communication to monitor progress and provide support and intervention, when necessary. Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy students will still be able to participate in any extra-curricular activities that we are able to offer this school year. Meals will be available for pick-up for Virtual Academy students.

Virtual Academy Considerations for Grades K-5
The Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy will require at least a 3 hour, daily commitment from parents of students in grades K-2 and at least a 1-2 hour, daily commitment from parents of students in grades 3-5 to work with their child(ren) at home with the Edmentum courseware.

The curriculum includes an online platform, core content, 2 electives (K&1: Health and PE; 3-5: Art and PE), project-based learning activities that build creative thinking and problem-solving skills, guided instruction (suggested daily schedules, clear objectives, teaching notes to help parents guide young learners), and printed texts and online resources to engage young learners.

Students in the K-5 Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy will also receive additional assistance, as needed, from certified teachers each day or evening through regularly scheduled teacher office hours.
Families who choose the Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy for students in grades K-5 will be provided with a virtual orientation session.

Virtual Academy Considerations for Grades 6-12
Students in the 6-12 Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy will work on the Apex courseware independently and will also receive additional assistance, as needed, from certified teachers each day or evening through regularly scheduled teacher office hours.

Courses offered through the Apex courseware for the Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy can be found here: Apex Courseware List

Students who choose the Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy will work on the completely web-based curriculum at home independently or with the guidance of a parent (depending on the age and needs of the student) and receive additional assistance, as needed, from certified teachers during each day or evening for additional support.

***The Spartanburg Two Virtual Academy is a stand-alone learning model and very different from Distance Remote Learning (DRL). DRL is a component of the face-to-face learning model that is implemented as needed due to disease activity or other circumstances***
