Instructional Vision and Focus

The components of our Instructional Vision and Focus provide the leverage for our students to develop world class skills as well aWe Make a Difference for Students Every Day!s the life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate which enable them to be college, career, and citizenship ready. The foundation of our vision for learning in Spartanburg 2 is based on the work of renowned educator John Hattie who synthesized over 20 years of research and more than 1,200 meta-analyses of the instructional influences that have the greatest impact on student learning. In Spartanburg 2, we operationalize these high impact strategies as we continually focus on improving student learning and achievement through collaborative and reflective Teaching and Learning Teams (TLTs) at every school. TLTs use the High Impact Team Cycle.

Hattie’s work, as well as the action work of Dr. Michael Fullan and Dr. Mark Edwards informs our Instructional Focus of differentiating and personalizing learning using vetted digital tools and adaptive software coupled with sound pedagogy and practices such as guided instruction and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). In addition to our district essentials, schools also utilize other research-proven, innovative approaches such as International Baccalaureate (IB), Leader in Me, STEAM, and Project-Based Learning, among others.
