Residency Information 2018-2019

For purposes of determining legal residence and school enrollment, parents and legal guardians are required to provide a driver’s license and the following:

Examples of acceptable documentation include: (Required)

Property Tax Bill for the permanent residence (Duplicate can be retrieved online through Spartanburg County)
Rental Lease (complete copy, listing all occupants) Please note that the Rental lease must be completed by the owner of the property only. If you are moving in with someone who is renting property, the Residence Affidavit must be signed and notarized with the Property owner to include new residents and children names.

Residency Affidavit 

When a student and his/her parent/legal guardian move in with a family in an existing home/ apartment, the following documentation is required for non-permanent admission to the district.

The owner/lessee of the home must execute a notarized affidavit that declares that the family is currently residing with them.

If the new address is an apartment, the apartment management must supply a verification letter that the student and the parent/legal guardian are residing at the specified address.

Within 30 calendar days of the submitted Affidavit, Parents must be able to provide proof of residence at the enrolled address.  This proof may include a W-2 form, employment paycheck stub, Vehicle Insurance, Voter Registration Card or tax receipt, or correspondence with State/Local Government services (WIC, DSS, Child Support, etc…). This will not be uploaded into InfoSnap. Please bring to the school when you bring the official notarized affidavit or rental agreement. You can upload the Residence Affidavit to Infosnap during online registration. However, the school will need the official copy for documentation purposes.

A driver’s license will be required from the property owner and parent/legal guardian. Photo IDs will not be accepted as documentation for address verification.

All parents/legal guardians enrolling with a Residency Affidavit must provide proof of legal residence to the school/district annually.

Spartanburg 2 will investigate and/or act upon all reports of alleged falsified documentation used as proof of residence. The district will also initiate random checks to verify addresses throughout the school year. Should any information presented by the parent/legal guardian or the district resident prove to be false, the student will be immediately withdrawn. Further, federal privacy laws prohibit disclosures of actions taken by the district and therefore will not be reported to the general public, or to those providing reports of false information. Members of the community, who have questions or concerns about tax registrations of local residents, should direct their concerns to the appropriate county auditor’s office.

Notarized affidavits will not be processed through the District Office, but assistance in obtaining the proper documentation can be provided by the Office of Student Services. Guardianship/Custody Affidavits will continue to be processed at the District Office by appointment.
